Elder Mills Real Estate
The municipality of Vaughan was a drastically different place when one looks back in time to the 16th and 17th Centuries, when the first settlers to this area were indigenous people. Known as the Wendat/Wyandot Iroquoian culture, and these settlers spread out all over Ontario into the Region of York and into what is now known as Vaughan. The Wyandot people introduced trade with the ‘white man’ or rather, the British, some Americans, and the French that were also making their way into and inhabiting areas of Ontario by the late 17th and early 18th Centuries. Through several archaeological sites throughout the Vaughan area and it has come to light that the Huron-Wyandot people developed one heavily populated village that looked out to the east of the Humber River. Over the years, Vaughan did not have massive growth spurts like other municipalities around Ontario, it grew up more slowly and at a steady pace. After the second world war however, Vaughan blossomed and expanded with more people (of varying cultures) firmly making Vaughan their forever home. By 1850, Vaughan officially became a ‘Township’ and it wasn’t until 1971 that Vaughan earned the title of ‘Town’ and 1991 brought Vaughan into well earned ‘City’ entitlement. Vaughan may have started out small and remained small for many years, but it now sits as the 5th largest city within the Greater Toronto Area (a massive jump in population between 1996 to 2006 pushed into city status). The size of Vaughan expanded with the inclusion of 6 major communities (Kleinburg, Woodbridge, Concord, Maple, Thornhill and Vaughan Metropolitan Centre).
Vaughan’s position makes it a very enticing place to live and work, as it borders Brampton & Caledon in the west, Markham & Richmond Hill in the east, part of Richmond Hill & King in the north and Toronto in the south. Property and real estate for sale within Vaughan is just as enticing for its wealth of options for home buyers and real estate investors. Superiorly constructed executive homes, premium built detached and semi-detached larger houses, townhomes and condos are the cream of the crop. Lots are spacious for these beautifully built homes, ample interior space on all levels welcomes larger families and locations of these homes are prime pieces of property. Condos are luxurious and offer plenty in the line of square footage (that on occasion extend out to a private balcony), excellent location in the area of downtown and gorgeous layouts with ample storage & onsite facilities.
Catching public transit to get around Vaughan is as easy as picking up the TTC (Toronto Transit Commission), York Region Transit (YRT), GO Transit or the rapid transit bus VIVA. Drivers will look to Highway 427 and the 400 series of Highways for getting around. Major healthcare institutions that service Vaughan residents include: Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital, Humber River Regional Hospital, Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital and the Brampton Civic Hospital. Families with children moving into the area of Vaughan can be rest assured for the amount of options when it comes to their children’s education. Schools within the area include: Glen Shields Public School, Leo Baeck Day School, Wilshire Elementary School, RoyalCrest Academy, Vellore Woods Public School, Pierre Berton Public School, St. Clare Catholic Elementary School, Thornhill Woods Public School, Julliard Public School, Forest Run Public School, St. Agnes of Assissi Elementary School, Vaughan Secondary School, Rosedale Heights Public School, Maple Creek Public School, St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Elementary School, Bakersfield Public School, St. Andrew Elementary School, Blue Willow Public School, Tender Treasures Montessori School, Joseph A. Gibson Public School, York University, the Ann & Max Tanenbaum Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto and the Toronto Waldorf School.

Some of the golf courses in the area are: Eagles Nest Golf Club, Bathurst Glen Golf Course, Thornhill Golf & Country Club, Carrick Macross Golf Course, Kleinburg Golf & Country Club, Bayview Golf & Country Club, Richmond Hill Golf Club and Copper Creek Golf Club (just to name a few, but there are many more). Notable parks around Vaughan are: Davos Park, Mackenzie Glen District Park, Village Green Park, Kingsview Park, Eagles Landing Park, Bindertwine Park and Wishing Well Parkette (but there are many more to explore!).
