The municipality of Vaughan was a drastically different place when one looks back in time to the 16th and 17th Centuries, when the first settlers to this area were indigenous people. Known as the Wendat/Wyandot Iroquoian culture, and these settlers spread out all over Ontario into the Region of York and into what is now known as Vaughan.
